I was born in Ciudad Juarez, and growing up in what was once considered one of the most dangerous cities in the world inspired me to pursue impact-driven work.

My first initiative began in high school, where I co-founded Angels4Kids, a club dedicated to bringing joy to children in hospitals and collaborating with local organizations to make a positive impact on the border community.

Following that, I attended McGill University, where I studied Global Food Security and Ecological Economics. My studies and internship with the UN World Food Programme exposed me to the failures of many development initiatives that imposed Western solutions on third-world countries without understanding local contexts. During my time at McGill, I co-designed projects with communities in Mexico and Canada, exploring themes of decolonization, systems thinking, and design ontology. This taught me the importance of designing systems that are responsive to community needs and that, in turn, shape the environments and people around them.

This journey inspired me to venture into social entrepreneurship, leading to the creation of Chefis. The goal was to enhance urban food and nutrition security by improving access to healthy meals, promoting a sharing economy, and supporting local markets through low startup costs for home-based chefs. However, without the right partners, support, or funding, Chefis eventually came to an end. This experience paved the way for my next successful projects, including Masara and Mutual Design.

At Mutual, which I co-founded, I led social impact design work with clients such as the One Drop Foundation, and the Makivik Foundation. Here, I honed my skills in human-centered design and co-design, collaborating closely with organizations to create meaningful and sustainable solutions.

I later joined Constructive, where I continue this work on a larger scale and with more technically complex projects with clients such as the Environmental Defense Fund and Blue Meridian Partnerss, further expanding my expertise in designing impactful strategies and solutions for a wide array of clients.

All these experiences have shaped my approach to design, which is rooted in empathy, reciprocity, collaboration, creativity, and systems thinking. I believe in designing with and for communities, ensuring that solutions are grounded in local context and driven by the needs and aspirations of those impacted. My work focuses on creating systems and strategies that not only solve immediate challenges but also empower individuals, enhance social connections, and contribute to long-term positive change.
