hyphenated GSD

hyphenated GSD is a student organization rooted in the experience of existing between linguistic, cultural, and social thresholds.

founded by five mexican-american students seeking community, research, and discussion on hyphenated identity and existences, this organization is for all hyphenated minorities and others who wish to engage with this topic.

hyphenated GSD approaches the hyphen to describe a condition of “inbetween-ness”, as an active zone of translation, negotiation, and relation as a means of bridging the gap between cultures and identity.

our gatherings take the form of conversations around food, screenings, and invited dialogues with practitioners whose work engages borders, thresholds, and identity. Whether geographic, linguistic, disciplinary, or ideological, we ask how hybrid, plural and Hyphenated experiences shape the ways we imagine, construct, and intervene in the world.
